Our history

Melchior Textil GmbH has a history built on quality, innovation, and sustainability.

1997: Founded as a distribution company
Our journey began in 1997 when we established ourselves as a distribution company. From the outset, our focus was on high-quality textiles and excellent customer service.

2015: A new chapter in our history
In October 2015, an exciting new chapter began for Melchior Textil. We moved into modern offices, warehouses, and laboratory facilities in the Allgäuerland industrial park. This unique location in the picturesque Allgäu landscape, with a view of the majestic Säntis mountain and excellent highway connections, allows our team to work in an inspiring environment.

2020: New Owner, New Opportunities
January 3, 2020, marked a significant milestone in our history. MGC, a joint venture between the renowned British Carrington Textiles and the respected Portuguese TMG - Acabamentos Têxteis SA, acquired Melchior Textil GmbH from the HOS Group. This acquisition opened new horizons and expanded our capabilities to better serve our customers.

2021: Change in Management.
Long-time Managing Director Manfred Seeber retired in the autumn of 2021. He was succeeded by textile expert and industry veteran Dietmar Rohrbach, who joined the company in December 2020.

2026: John Vareldzis assumes the position of Managing Director.
